Browns WR Gordon signs exclusive rights tender

Sports Xchange - Tuesday 17th April, 2018

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon signed a one-year exclusive-rights tender, the team announced on Monday.

The Browns did not divulge the financial terms of his deal, but NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Gordon's tender is worth $790,000.

Fellow wide receiver Matt Hazel, offensive lineman Austin Reiter and fullback Danny Vitale also agreed to terms, the team announced.

Despite being selected in the 2012 supplemental draft, Gordon is only credited with four NFL seasons due to multiple suspensions.

Gordon fulfilled the final year of his rookie contract in 2017, but because he wasn't eligible for at least six games, he didn't pick up a third accrued season. If Gordon earns a third accrued season in 2018, he will be eligible for restricted free agency in 2019.

The 27-year-old Gordon has recorded 179 receptions for 3,089 yards and 15 touchdowns in 40 games, highlighted by a 2013 season in which he led the NFL with 1,646 receiving yards. He appeared in five games in 2017 and registered 18 catches for 335 yards and one touchdown.

Hazel, who has appeared in nine career games, was signed to the Browns' active roster from Indianapolis' practice squad.

Reiter has played in 16 of his 17 career games with the Browns, who was initially signed to the team's practice squad in 2016 from the Washington Redskins' practice squad.

Vitale appeared in 15 games -- including six starts -- last season and 24 in his career.
