Former Texas Tech guard Micah Peavy is staying in the Big 12 and transferring to TCU.

The 6-foot-7 freshman averaged 5.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 29 games (25 starts) for the Red Raiders in 2020-21.

The Horned Frogs confirmed the move Monday on social media.

Peavy, the 2020 Texas high school Class 6A Player of the Year, is at least the fourth Division I transfer to join TCU this spring. He joins guards Damion Baugh (Memphis), Maxwell Evans (Vanderbilt) and Shahada Wells (Texas-Arlington).

Since former Texas Tech coach Chris Beard left to take the Texas job earlier this month, several other Red Raiders have either entered the transfer portal or announced they are exploring the NBA draft process. That list includes leading scorer Mac McClung, Kyler Edwards and Terrence Shannon Jr.

Peavy tallied seven points, seven rebounds, two assists and a steal when Texas Tech routed TCU, 69-49, on March 2 in Lubbock.
